Wisdom
or
Foolishness
We have choices to make!
We have been teaching the children Psalm 19:7-10 in junior church. Oh...you should hear them sing! My heart is stirred as I listen to their young voices sing that song. My heart is heavy as I realize many of them don't understand the truth that is woven in those verses that can spare them grief and pain! My heart is convicted as I see our children's faces in that group. The choices that we make in our home...to follow God's law, His testimony, His statutes, His commandments, the fear of the Lord, the judgments...point our children to what is perfect (converting of the soul), sure (making wise the simple), right (rejoicing the heart), pure (enlightening the eyes), clean (enduring forever), true, and righteous...altogether...they are more to be desired than fine gold and sweeter than honey.
We are warned...there is great reward when we keep them!
We are missing the mark, parents, when we don't teach our children in our homes...while they are young (simple). We have God's Word. We have what we need. We have what they need. Yet, we never open it, read it, or apply it! We wonder what is wrong with our children...they are being raised by fools! Watch the children God has given you...how they act, what they say, and you will see what you have taught them. Harsh? But honest!
Have you read Proverbs lately? Have you studied it? Have you allowed it to grip your heart...your soul...your mind? God and the holy men He used to write down His words spoke truth...and if it bothers us...that is what is what you need to start dealing with first! Your own heart, soul, and mind!
Proverbs 4:7 "Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding!"
It is an either or situation!
We start in simplicity...but we need a guide (prudence) to wisdom. Or I can choose to go from simplicity with the help of a guide (scorner) to foolishness.
We cannot get there by ourselves. We need help. He gave us the list...and He gave us the outcomes! We have to deal with ourselves first...or we will be simple...living foolishly...raising simple fools...leaving behind great blessing and reward!
