How society has changed!

We purchased the dvd set for our children to enjoy...and we have enjoyed them too!
We shake our heads in wonderment at the lessons, morals, ethics, roles, and values that are held up.
Most Christian homes don't even live by these standards...let alone God's standards.

We are amazed and intrigued by the content of this collection!
My how things have changed!  These writers were from the Hollywood elite.

"One of the first primetime sitcom series written from a child's point-of-view, the show was created by the writers Joe Connelly and Bob Mosher. These veterans of radio and early television found inspiration for the show's characters, plots, and dialogue in the lives, experiences, and conversations of their own children. Like several television dramas and sitcoms of the late 1950s and early 1960s (Lassie and My Three Sons, for example), Leave It to Beaver is a glimpse at middle-class, white American boyhood. In a typical episode Beaver got into some sort of trouble, then faced his parents for reprimand and correction. However, neither parent was omniscient; indeed, the series often showed the parents debating their approach to child rearing, and some episodes were built around parental gaffes.  Comprising six full 39-week seasons (234 episodes), the show had its debut on CBS on October 4, 1957, and then moved to ABC the following year, completing its run on June 20, 1963. Although television production was transitioning from black-and-white to color in the latter years of the show's run, the series continued to be shot with a single camera on black-and-white 35mm film.[1] The show's production companies included comedian George Gobel's Gomalco Productions (1957–1961) and Kayro Productions (1961–1963) with filming at Revue Studios/Republic Studios and Universal Studios in Los Angeles, California. The show was distributed by MCA Television."

Most of our families today downplay the role of the father in the home.
T.V. and movies portray fathers as goof-offs and incompetent...to be laughed at and ignored.
How sad that Christian families have bought into this thought process!

Wally and Beaver were continually challenged to disobey what they knew to be right.
Proverbs 1:5-10
"A wise [man] will hear, and will increase learning; and a man of understanding shall attain unto wise counsels:  The fear of the LORD [is] the beginning of knowledge: [but] fools despise wisdom and instruction.
My son, hear the instruction of thy father, and forsake not the law of thy mother:
For they [shall be] an ornament of grace unto thy head, and chains about thy neck. My son, if sinners entice thee, consent thou not."

We don't even try to teach some of the values seen on Leave It To Beaver series from the 1950s and 1960s...let alone Biblical principles from God's Word that have stood the test of time.

Proverbs 10:1
"The proverbs of Solomon. A wise son maketh a glad father:
but a foolish son [is] the heaviness of his mother."

Ephesians 6:1-4
"Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right.

Honour thy father and mother; (which is the first commandment with promise;)
That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth.
And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord."

Of all the stuff that has been produced over the years, it's too bad series like this aren't made anymore!
If our children are going to spend time watching T.V. and movies, why not give them something to help them...not hurt them?!
