Just for Moms,
I woke up this morning to a soft banging sound every few minutes. I knew what it was because we watched the activity yesterday...and now...again...over and over...a robin keeps banging into our front window. I joked about our home looks inviting to her and she wants to come inside. I think the bird sees her reflection. I say her because she is not brightly colored. It is a guess.
What an object lesson for our family yesterday AND now again today! We do, say, read, and think (or add whatever you struggle with) the same things over and over each day and wonder why we do not have a different outcome. It is easy for me to see "that bird is insane! She cannot get through that window! She is going to hurt or even kill herself!"
May I submit to you that we...women (moms and wives) do the same exact thing!? Ok...I know I do! YOU? You might ask...you look like you are not bothered by much. You seem to have it altogether. And that is where we make our mistakes as moms. We look at others who are out and about...made up to look nice as we go into public places. We look at what others post to social media...you know that you do it too...we zoom in on what we want our picture to show. Every day I video down in our basement classroom...the unorganized shelf above my head drives me crazy..."because people can see that!" We bang our heads repeatedly against the window of our perceived expectations of others.
Today...when you hear the birds or see them hoping about your yard...think of my foolish visitor! Doing the same thing over and over will drive you insane and will hurt you. Take this same to learn a new way to handle life! Go to God's Word and let God lead you to hope and fresh perspectives. I started in Proverbs 1 again yesterday... "The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge; but fools despise wisdom and instruction."
Silly bird...God takes care of you...don't injure yourself looking at something you cannot or shouldn't have! Trust Him!
Praying for you today,
Kari...just a mom...watching and learning from the birds
