Just for moms...
At the beginning of the year in kindergarten, we memorized Proverbs 3:1-6. Here we are seven months later being called to live out what was put in our hearts and minds. Do you remember hearing your children say the verses to you or hum the tune? Ask them to sing the song to you today! I'll review it during our calendar time.
I've been reminded to look back during this time of "shelter in place" or as some call it "safer at home". I know we all have differing views of what is happening. We are questioning the leadership of our country, our state, our church leaders, and maybe even our school leaders. Can I encourage you today not to question and play the "what if" game?! TRUST IN THE LORD WITH ALL YOUR HEART and remember your heart will fail you at times...because you are a human. You are a woman with strong emotions. You are a wife. You are a momma. You are a teacher. You are a daughter. You are a friend. LEAN NOT ON YOUR OWN UNDERSTANDING Be thankful that you don't have the weight of the country, state, church body, and school family on your shoulders. God did not call you to that...but He has asked His children to pray for those that rule over us. IN ALL THY WAYS ACKNOWLEDGE HIM, AND HE SHALL DIRECT THY PATHS Be thankful that God has given you a safe place to shelter! Focus on the people that live in your four walls...they need you...they don't always have the words to express their fear, wonder, and disappointment like adults. You may be dealing with big emotions, drama, unkindness, and disobedience. Be firm! Be consistent! Ask God for wisdom, love, and patience...and then stand strong.
As I read this Proverb for today...my eyes stopped on verse 7...BE NOT WISE IN THINE OWN EYES; FEAR THE LORD, AND DEPART FROM EVIL Have you come to the point yet where you have said, "I can't do this. It is too hard. What are we going to do if we lose the jobs? How will we pay for...?" Go back to what you know...look back through the events in your life and remember...God took care of us then...He will do it again! Fill your mind with truth from God's Word...write it on your bathroom mirror with your lipstick if you need to do so. We do our best to teach our children how to handle life...but...can I ask you today...what are they seeing you do with all of this? Go back to truth...and speak it out loud to your loves that make messes, cry and scream, and give sticky hugs.
Just sharing a wonderful truth and thoughts from a teacher mom...who is struggling with the disappointment from the decision that was handed down yesterday...
I WILL TRUST, LEAN NOT, ACKNOWLEDGE, BE NOT WISE, FEAR THE LORD, AND DEPART!
With love,
Kari...just a mom who happens to be a teacher to some great little friends and some pretty special moms
